Seventh grade book club decided to read this book. Unfortunately, I couldn't leave the library to find out what they thought of the book. I will have to ask them individually or check at our next book club meeting.
The concept of this book is intriguing. The whole concept of smallpox coming back to infect the United States and be used by terrorists. Scary, but possibly not as far fetched as I would hope.
My grandmother was a survivor of smallpox, plus I am old enough to remember being vaccinated for smallpox. My grandmother had some pretty serious scars on her upper chest from the disease.
The book also made me think about how I e-mail and what private information I share on the Internet. Mitty Blake, Mitchell, finds out that he needs to be more aware of what he is asking and who he asks. A question that he innocently sends asking for answers to questions about smallpox, gets forwarded to people he had never intended to recieve his e-mail - the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and the FBI. Also, he finds that not everything on the Internet is correct. Also, he needs to pay attention to the age of material he uses. New information is always found for some topics like disease, so you need to look for updates!
Good book, I would recommend it if you like books with suspense.
